Transit Tracker is a website and mobile application for tracking modes of public transportation in near real-time. A strong emphasis of the project is to provide a non-invasive assistive technology tool for visually impaired public transportation users, while extending our services to all public transport commuters, in an effort to increase efficiency of public transit and encourage equal accessibility for all citizens to said modes of transportation.

Unlike current infrastructure systems, Transit Tracker utilizes a social technology, crowd-sourcing, for transit schedule data approximation. Crowd-sourcing is the concept of users giving information to get meaningful information in return. When users have seen or are riding a bus, they submit a geolocation via built-in global position system (GPS) on smartphone devices, and user geolocation data is used by the system to increase the accuracy of basis data sets for many cities or regions throughout the world.
