The paper, “An evaluation of haptic descriptions for audio described films for individuals who are blind,” by CUbiC Postdoctoral Research Assistant, Troy McDaniel, and CUbiC Director, Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, has been accepted for publication at ICME 2013 held in San Jose, California.
Narrations of visual content, or audio descriptions, enhance the accessibility of video media for individuals who are blind, but audio descriptions have several limitations. The work presents audio-haptic descriptions with a user evaluation showing how haptic descriptions can add relevant information to films for improved comprehension.
